19/11/09 - Casting in Anderson's English & Scouts in Bondage Review:
In the new year, Alastair will join the cast of Max Stafford-Clark's next production "Andersen's English", playing Walter Dickens in Sebastian Barry's new play.
Celebrated children's writer Hans Christian Andersen arrives, unannounced, for a stay at Gad's Hill Place in the Kent marshes - home to Charles Dickens and his large, charismatic family. To the lonely and eccentric guest, the members of Dicken's household seem to live a life of unreachable bliss. But with his broken English, Andersen doesn't at first see the storms brewing within the family: undeclared passions, a son about to go to India, and a growing strangeness at the heart of Dickens's marriage.
The production tours the following venues from 11th February 2010 - Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, Nuffield Theatre (Southampton), West Yorkshire Playhouse, Manchester Library Theatre, Belgrade Theatre (Coventry), Salisbury Playhouse, Theatre Clwyd, before taking up a 5-week residency at the Hampstead Theatre in London and finishing in mid-May.
It is produced by Out of Joint and the cast includes Niamh Cusack. Further details can be viewed here.

After a successful summer acting in the Peter Hall Season in Bath and on tour, Alastair is currently in rehearsals to play Lance Featherstone in the follow-up to the highly successful "Boys of the Empire" which ran at the King's Head Theatre, Islington at the end of 2008 and start of 2009. "Scouts in Bondage" is once again written by Glenn Chandler and directed by Terence Barton. It follows the story of a troop of boy scouts who are heading off to a Jamboree in India when their plane crashes in the Hindu Kush montains of Afghanistan. It previews from 12th November and runs until 10th January at the King's Head Theatre, Islington. More details can be found at www.scoutsinbondage.co.uk.
17/06/09 - The Best of Times:
Alastair has recently finished acting in a workshop of Glenn Chandler's new play, "The Best of Times", with Hannah Gordon and Julian Glover. He played the part of Ben - Julian and Hannah's grandson. A reading of the play, directed by Andrew Hall, was presented to the industry towards the end of May and there are hopes of a full production in the future.
Alastair is currently in rehearsals for The Peter Hall Company's season at Bath this Summer. He will be understudying Taplow in Terence Rattigan's "The Browning Version". The production is in repertoire at The Theatre Royal Bath between 24th June and 1st August (along with productions of The Apple Cart and Home) before touring for 6 weeks from 10th August..
31/01/09 - King's Head Success:
Alastair has played a lead role in a very successful run of Glenn Chandler's play "Boys of the Empire" at the King's Head Theatre for the last two months. The show opened on Tuesday 16th December and received critical acclaim from The Evening Standard, Time Out and The Times - where it was classed as Benedict Nightingale's number one show to see at Christmas. The run was due to finish on 11th January, however due to popular demand it ended up being extended for an additional two weeks.
Away from acting, Alastair has decided, after running the Flora London Marathon last April, that he will once again take to the streets of London in the spring as he attempts to do it all again! He will be raising money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and you can view his blog by clicking here or sponsor him by clicking here.
01/12/08 - Boys Of The Empire:
Alastair is delighted to be reprising the role of "Warren Overday", in the London transfer of Boys of the Empire this Christmas. It runs at The King's Head Theatre, Islington from 16th December until 11th January.
Boys of the Empire is a satirical comedy set in a public school around the time of the British occupation in Iraq in the 1920s. Based on a story from one of the "Boy's Own Papers", Taggart creator Glenn Chandler's new play had a sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe this Summer.
